So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom.

New gym, new day

We found a new gym here in Granbury that is closer to our house and that we like more than the YMCA. It is a serious weightlifting gym with its only defect being the really cheesy rowing machines they have compared to our Concept 2. We started at the gym yesterday and went mid-morning when there was hardly anyone there. We had no waiting to get onto any piece of equipment we wanted. I am looking forward to getting back into a good workout rhythm, add some walking to the mix when the temperature drops down into the 80’s and 90’s later this fall, and continue my trajectory down to a more reasonable weight for my age and build. My next intermediate goal is still 27 pounds away.

Goals: Half way to target weight

After 26 weeks and 6 days of healthy eating and weight lifting, I have hit my intermediate goal of under 199 lbs. for my weekly average weight, measured daily. That is an average of about 0.8 lbs. lost per week. I still have a good amount of hard belly fat and my girth is quite a bit more than what is considered healthy so I am pretty sure 170 lbs. will be my end goal.

Leg press breakthrough

I finally got back up to 405 lbs. on the leg press. God willing, I want to start squatting again after we get to Texas. I would like to dead lift and bench, too, but my glory days of lifting are pretty much over now, not that they were so glorious even back in the day. Still, felt pretty good to be over 400 as my working weight–3 sets, 10 reps each.

Leg press: 385 lbs.

Still fat, but doing better. Still a few weeks from my intermediate weight goal. I was hoping I would make it by the Independence Day on July 4, but I really do not think that will happen. Still, my leg press is back up to 385 lbs. for 3 sets of ten reps. I am hoping to hit 405 lbs. and then just stay there for awhile. I am thinking of moving away from the chest press machine to do real bench presses. I am not sure where I am with that. It would be nice to be able to get back to my one time working weight of 225 lbs., but that might be a bridge too far. I am currently doing 3 sets of 10 reps at 170 lbs. on the chest press.
